Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Donation Awareness and Registry Drive – February 12, 2026
Dr. Siva Bellam, a hematology-oncologist in the USA, SMC alumnus, and past president of SMCANA, together with SMCA, organized a Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Donation Awareness and Stem Cell Registry Drive at Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada. A total of 225 individuals registered and provided swab samples during the drive.
Following the event, representatives met with the Honorable Health Minister and requested that similar drives be conducted annually in all medical colleges. They also met with the Vice-Chancellor, who expressed support for the initiative and instructed the Registrar to issue an official circular directing all medical college principals to conduct these drives every year.
The SMCAA team, Dr. Surapaneni, Dr. Ammanna, Trimurthy garu, and Principal Dr. A. Y. Rao garu provided invaluable support and cooperation, contributing significantly to the success of the drive
